  1. Local News—Coliseum a Jail? • Sedgwick County commissioners say they may build a satellite jail on the land where the Kansas Coliseum is in Park City. • The commissioners have unsuccessfully found a site to build a work-release center or a minimum security jail.

  2. National News—Quake hits East Coast • 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook the East Coast from Georgia up to Massachusetts. • The epicenter of the quake was 83 miles SW of D.C. in Virginia. • Government buildings were evacuated and rail and air travel suspended.

  3. National--Hurricane Irene may hit N.C. • Hurricane Irene has reached category 3, which has winds up to 115 mph. • The Hurricane is expected to hit land on Saturday.

  4. World News—Japan economy downgraded • Moody’s recently downgraded Japan’s debt rating to a Aa3. This is three notches below the best possible AAA rating. • This comes due to the suffering economy that was affected by their quake and tsunami on March 11.

  5. National News—Rogue Pandas? • Computer hacked an Arizona street sign and changed message to “Rogue Panda on Rampage.” • City was able to restore the original message later that morning.
