  2. New District Program Objective: • To improve the participation of existing Ahepans through networking and support. • To increase membership by doing good works in the communities and to retain these members through a mentorship program.

  3. I. Program Name: • This new initiative will be called the GOTO program, which stands for the “Good Of The Order.” • This GOTO Program is to be implemented in each chapter.

  4. II. Purpose: • To help each member become more connected with his fellow Brothers and to improve the relationship between each Chapter. • It should be the responsibility of each AHEPAN to be an advocate of the AHEPA and provide mentoring to new and existing members.

  5. III. Implementation Strategy: • Create a Directory which will provide helpful information about each Brother and the Order of AHEPA.

  6. The information necessary to establish the directory is as follows: • Name / Address / Phone (H & W) / email • Date & Place of Birth • Occupation / Profession • Hobbies and Interests • High School / College/ other schools attended • Veteran & Military Status if any. • If married, wife’s name • Number of Children / names and birthdates • AHEPA History (I.E. Other chapter, SOP/ MOA) • What reason(s) did you join AHEPA? • How would you like to participate? • Other affiliates / Organizations involved with? • Provide a place to attach a photo (passport type) of the member. This can be done by either: • Attaching a photo on an application. • Submitting photo on line. • Having a session (AHEPA Photo Night) where photos will be taken.

  7. Establish a Committee • Committee Requirements & Responsibilities: • 5 years AHEPA membership (preferred) • Made up of a minimum of 3 members consisting of at least one in each of the following age group: • One age 60 and above • One age 40 to 60 • One age 20 to 40 • Work of Committee: • Determine a pairing strategy to be based on existing members’ profiles as provided on application form.

  8. V. Procedure: A. Application is submits it manually or on-line. B. The application is received by the Membership (GOTO) Committee. • The GOTO Committee reviews the application. • confirms New applicant’s eligibility and makes recommendation for membership. • Reviews application and makes recommendation for mentoring pair.

  9. V. Procedure (Con’t): D.The new member is initiated during a chapter meeting and assigned to a “GOTO” Advocate at the Initiation Ceremony. • The GOTO Advocate (GOTO Guy) serves as a wise and trusted guide, advisor and resource for the new member. • The GOTO Advocate or “GOTO Guy” must agree to spend time with the new member and take him under his wing.

  10. V. Procedure (Con’t): E. From the point of initiation, the mentor will take on the following responsibilities: 1. Be available to answer any questions and help integrate the new member to AHEPA.

  11. V. Procedure (Con’t): 2. Provide new member handbook about AHEPA which includes a minimum of the following: a. AHEPA National: • Info concerning AHEPA National Projects, AHEPA Structure, and other pertinent information (from National web site or other sources). • Info on AHEPA History to educate members on AHEPA’s past philanthropic endeavors.

  12. V. Procedure (Con’t): b. AHEPA District: • Provide AHEPA District Information. • District Lodge Officers • Activities • Scholarships

  13. V. Procedure (Con’t): • Local AHEPA Chapter, (some of this is given during formal initiation) • Including Programs and Projects, Committees, etc. • Charges given to each Officer – elected and appointed. • Explanation of symbols, banner, etc. • Emphasis on the principles of AHEPA (Speak evil of no one, etc).

  14. V. Procedure (Con’t): 3. Provide and report positive and negative feedback to the GOTO Committee.

  15. Remember… • For AHEPA to continue to grow, we all need to: • Become active in mentoring new members. • Invigorate inactive members. • Encourage all brother to do likewise.
