  2. QUESTION 1 • Each university should have a internal quality assurance cell (IQAC). • There should be national accreditation council under UGC at present.

  4. Cont… • Accreditation council can start as a part of the UGC which will finally be an independent body composed of the following: UGC chairman / representative-chairman Rep. of public university Rep. of private university Rep. of professional bodies Rep. of industry – chamber of commerce

  5. Cont… Functions • Quality Assurance Cell (QAC) is responsible for promoting public confidence that the quality and standard of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded. • QAC is responsible for the review of quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.

  6. Cont… • QAC is responsible for the review of academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs. • QAC is responsible for defining clear and explicit standards as points of reference to the reviews to be carried out.

  7. Cont… • QAC is also responsible to develop qualification frameworks by setting out the attributes and abilities that can be expected from the holders of qualifications, ie. Bachelors, Bachelors with honours, Master’s M.Phil, Doctoral. • QAC is responsible to develop programs specifications. • QAC is responsible to develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluations to affirm that the quality of provision and the standards of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum subject and staff development.
