Con’d • Classrooms are sterile, • Methodologies content based and irrelevant • 21st Century Education demands…….that we prepare for a diverse globalised and complex media- saturated society • There is a need to change the nature of the culture of student engagement in our classrooms for a healthy balanced and sustainable society

6. Why the Need for ICTs in the 21st Century Classroom ? • SSS & SHS Student turnover • SHSS turns over approx. 1100 students/yr x 34 yr totaling 37,400 • SSS turns over 750 students/yr x 50 totaling 37,500 • 50% of our current population could have been educated at SSS and SHSS………

Enabling Factors • The vision statements of both schools already embrace the objective to infuse ICT in the teaching learning process • Climate is poised to utilise technology • Each has 2 computer labs • Audio Visual room • Portable Multimedia • SSS Video conferencing facility • Staff computers/laptops
