  7. Joshua 6 : 20 • 20So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that thewallfell down flat.

  8. 1. Rahab was cunning and brave. • Joshua 2 : 1 - 7

  9. Joshua 2 : 1 - 7 • 1So they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there. 2And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.”

  10. Joshua 2 : 15 • 3So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.” • 4Then the woman took the two men and hid them. So she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.

  11. Joshua 2 : 15 • 5And it happened as the gate was being shut, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went I do not know; pursue them quickly, for you may overtake them.”6(But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof.)

  12. 2. Rahab was wise. • Joshua 2 : 16

  13. Joshua 2 : 16 • 16And she said to them, “Get to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you. Hide therethree days, until the pursuers have returned.Afterward you may go your way.”

  15. Joshua 2 : 11 - 12 • 11And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.12Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father’s house, and give me a true token,

  16. 4. Rahab was filled with faith. • Hebrews 11 : 30 - 31

  17. Hebrews 11 : 30 - 31 • 30By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. 31By faith the harlot Rahab did not perishwith those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.

  18. 5. Rahab was justified by God through faith. • James 2 : 23 - 26

  19. James 2 : 23 - 26 • 23And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it wasaccounted to him for righteousness.”And he was called the friend of God. 24You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. • 25Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? • 26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

  20. 6. Rahab was a foreshadowing of God’s desire to redeem the world. • Matthew 1 : 1 - 16

  21. Matthew 1 : 1 - 16 • 1The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: • 2Abraham begot Isaac, …..5Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, 6and Jesse begot David the king …..16And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

  22. 6. Rahab was a foreshadowing of God’s desire to redeem the world. • She married into a Jewish family • Jesus came from the fruit of her loins. • She represented Christ using gentiles to redeem the world be becoming a part of the lineage of Jesus, Himself.

  23. The Challenge • If God can use a prostitute bound up in sin who was willing to believe in Him and allow herself to be part of the redemption of the world, what could he do with you?
