  2. Review • A sentence is a group of words that tells a complete idea. • A sentence begins with a capital letter. • A sentence ends with punctuation. • period • question mark • exclamation mark

  3. Parts of a Sentence • The naming part of a sentence does two things: • It names a person, place, animal, or thing • It tells who or what the sentence is about

  4. Example • The girl sees a bird. • What is the naming part? • Correct • The girl is the naming part.

  5. Example • Renee likes Mary Poppins. • What is the naming part of the sentence? • Correct • Renee is the naming part.

  6. Practice • Draw a line under the naming part in each sentence. The castle looks great. The mouse took the cheese. The flowers smell good. The little red hen lays eggs. My uncle visited us in summer.
