Seismic Data Processing Examples in the High Plains Oil Plays ECHO processing makes a difference!
High Plains Oil Play Program • ECHO was founded on August 1st, 1986 by a group of seismic processors for the purpose of doing processing work. Creativity combined with a need to generate cash flow inspired the data pool concept. • The company became a niche data provider, and since 1987 ECHO has succeeded time and time again in developing small programs into large, attractive data pools. One of ECHO’s newest data pools is the High Plains Oil Play Program. ECHO expects significant growth in this program in 2011. • Participants in this program will receive the newly reprocessed data for no additional charge. • ECHO takes its processing challenges very seriously, and we will not release a product unless we believe it is better than the original version we received from the data contributor.
Processing in the High Plains ECHO’s experience resolving processing challenges in the oil basins of the High Plains is impressive. In the early 2000’s while other processing centers were working mostly in highly structural natural gas plays, ECHO’s data pool projects were preparing its processing staff for the flood of projects based on resource plays that are currently prominent in the Williston, Powder River, and Denver-Julesburg basins of the High Plains. Data pool operations combined with proprietary processing services have afforded ECHO’s analysts the opportunity to expand upon an already impressive experience level while building expertise in these basins. Data pool projects alone have provided additional experience to ECHO’s analysts on over 110 surveys covering more than 2,400 square miles in these areas in recent years. Likewise, approximately 8,300 miles of 2D data in the area have recently been processed by ECHO through its data pools.
Processing Experience • ECHO’s processing geophysicists have developed skills essential to dealing with resource play processing challenges. While all of ECHO’s analysts can provide top-notch processing services, the following are some of ECHO’s processing experts in these basins: • Senior Staff Geophysicist Bill Wepfer, Ph.D. has earned many accolades from oil explorers as a result of his ability to find a way to improve upon existing processing on any survey with blazing efficiency. Bill has worked as an interpreter and knows from his own experience what clients need most out of their seismic processing services. • A multitude of loyal clients return time and again to Senior Processing Geophysicist Rick Steineckfor his highly attentive service and indisputable experience. Rick’s unrivaled work ethic and attention to detail are a perfect match for the finely tuned processing work required in these plays.
Processing Experience (cont.) • Seasoned processing veteran Randy Jackson’s 30+ years experience in processing data in the greater Rocky Mountains allows him to provide services to clients working the area with confidence and efficiency. Randy has owned a seismic processing center in the past and knows very well the effort required to produce high quality processing products. • After 30 years of processing data in the Rockies, Senior Processing Geophysicist Kris Brault has developed a great reputation for his ability to listen to client input and determine what processing techniques will most effectively achieve the client’s goals. Kris has also co-owned a processing shop and attracts repeat business with a combination of admirable dedication and strong insight into geophysical applications suitable for the specific geology of resource plays. • Beginning his career by spending several years working on refraction statics and geometry problems, followed by training with Bill Wepfer on comprehensive time processing projects, Bob Vite is a home grown star. He has become very skilled in solving tricky statics problems and is developing a base of clients who are big fans of his work.
Processing Examples ECHO’s data pool operations present the company with a unique ability to showcase its processing abilities on a wide variety of data. Included here are examples of data processed by other processing centers compared with versions processed by ECHO. This presentation displays examples from the following surveys: Missouri Breaks– Richland and Roosevelt Co’s., MT E. Donkey Creek– Crook Co., WY S. Goose Lake– Sheridan Co., MT
