  1. Wrapping Up Their FutureNail Wraps Certified OPI Instructor Training

  2. Nail Wraps • Pieces of material that are bonded to the nail using adhesive called a resin • Resin curing is sped up with the use of an activator • Most commonly used to repair a break in the natural nail or as an overlay with or without nail tips • Cyanoacrylate family • Are easily removed with Artificial Nail Remover • No light gels are thicker resins used without material Certified OPI Instructor Training

  3. Components of a Wrap System • Material / Fiber • Resin / Adhesive • Activator / Catalyst Certified OPI Instructor Training

  4. Material / Fiber • Give strength to nail • Common Materials • Fiberglass, Silk, Linen & Paper • OPI FutureFiber • Nylon Certified OPI Instructor Training

  5. OPI FutureFiber • Advanced, extra strong polymer fiber • Accelerator is infused into the fiber, to start below-the-surface cure • Adhesive makes it stick to the nail for a good start • More transparent nail because it has a similar “refractive index” to the cured resin. Certified OPI Instructor Training

  6. “Refractive Index” • Refractive index (“RI”) refers to how a material bends the pathway of light that passes through it. • If the resin and wrap have different “RI”, the nail appear will be cloudy due to light scattering. (think of a frosted versus a clear window) • If the resin and fiber have similar “RI” values, light will pass through without distortion. Certified OPI Instructor Training

  7. What’s in the Resins? • Cyanoacrylate monomer • PMMA polymer as a thickener; different resins have different viscosities depending on usage • Inhibitors to prevent premature curing Certified OPI Instructor Training

  8. Cyanoacrylate monomers are… • Faster curing than other acrylics • NOT inhibited by oxygen – no tacky layer • But more sensitive – curing is easily initiated (“set off”) Certified OPI Instructor Training

  9. OPI Resins • ThinSet • Easily penetrates the FutureFiber for complete bonding • Superior Bonding, Clarity & Strength • Available in Brush On & Squeeze On • ThickSet • Used to add strength & contour to nails • Self-Contouring • Liquid Buff • Perfect finish, for high shine • Clarite Curing Resin Certified OPI Instructor Training

  10. Activator / Catalyst • Speeds the Cyanoacrylate polymerization process (a "strike-anywhere match") • can be sprayed or brushed on Certified OPI Instructor Training

  11. OPI SpeedCure • Fast Acting • Non-Burning • Brush On or Spray On • Incorporated into FutureFiber so the Resin cures from within as well as from the top.Patent #5,964,977 Certified OPI Instructor Training

  12. Applying Wraps...Successfully • Prepare for Service • Properly Prepare Nail for Adhesion using OPI’s Standard Prep Procedures • If using Tips; choose proper tips, size, apply & blend • Begin with MicroWrap Application Certified OPI Instructor Training

  13. FutureFiber Application • Fit and press onto clean, prepped nails • Stay 1/16th” away from the cuticle area and nail groove • Trim fabric, if necessary, with Future Fiber Scissors Certified OPI Instructor Training

  14. ThinSet Application • Start by angling finger downward to avoid having ThinSet pool in the cuticle area. • Brush on (or squeeze on) a thin layer of ThinSet Certified OPI Instructor Training

  15. ThinSet Application • Drop resin first in the center of nail Certified OPI Instructor Training

  16. ThinSet Application • Then cuticle area • Then out toward the edge Certified OPI Instructor Training

  17. Secure FutureFiber • Allow to dry for one minute • Pull down on the Pre/cuts tab to secure fabric to nails • Once dry, file in a downward motion to remove excess fabric from around free edge Certified OPI Instructor Training

  18. ThinSet Application • Apply a second coat of ThinSet using the same technique • This time finish by capping the free edge • Allow to dry for one minute Certified OPI Instructor Training

  19. SpeedCure Application • For Spray On, hold bottle 6 inches from nails, spray just a fine mist • If you spray to closely, product cures too quickly and shrinks up Certified OPI Instructor Training

  20. SpeedCure Application • For Brush On, imagine you are floating a small bead between your brush and the nail • Brush on SpeedCure to entire nail Certified OPI Instructor Training

  21. ThickSet Application • Work one nail at a time • Apply a pearl of product at the stress area • Use nozzle of bottle to spread toward cuticle, then out to free edge • or SmoothSet Certified OPI Instructor Training

  22. Using SmoothSet • Work ThickSet towards cuticle area first • Then bring out to free edge • “Floating a Bead” between your brush and the nail Certified OPI Instructor Training

  23. Using SmoothSet • Wipe the SmoothSet brush out before replacing in the bottle Certified OPI Instructor Training

  24. SpeedCure Application • Wait 2 minutes • Holding the bottle 6 inches from nails, spray just a fine mist Certified OPI Instructor Training

  25. Filing the Nail • Using the Smoother (or Leveler) perform your 11-Plane Filing Cuticle Area 4 5 6 1 3 2 9 8 7 10 11 Free Edge Certified OPI Instructor Training

  26. Filing the Nail • Evaluate the nail • For high spots, gently use the Silver Cushion to reduce product • For low (shiney) areas, fill in with ThickSet, ThinSet or Liquid Buff Certified OPI Instructor Training

  27. Filing the Nail • Use smoother to perform 11-plane filing again • Use silver cushion to shape free edge Certified OPI Instructor Training

  28. Hands On • Complete 1 Tip & Wrap Nail • Or Working on Just a Tip, cover with Wrap • Nail Print Certified OPI Instructor Training

  29. Fill Ins • Resin Fill • A resin fill is ideal for shorter nails or the first two-week fill. • Fiber Fill • A fabric and resin fill is suggested for longer nails and for the second fill. Certified OPI Instructor Training

  30. Wrap Removal • Helpful Hints Certified OPI Instructor Training

  31. Wrap Up • Question & Answer • Evaluation • Certification? • Tip with Wrap Overlay • Nail Print with Score Certified OPI Instructor Training
