What is the SHSM Transportation Program? • It is a ministry-approved specialized career-focused program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector in the Transportation industry by preparing students to make the transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace.

  3. Why get involved? • A growing high demand in skilled Transportation jobs! • Explore a variety of related career option in the transportation service industry. • SHSM-Transportation gives students the opportunity to “test drive” and begin their career sooner with certifications required in industry • Complete sector recognized training courses.

  6. What skills will I develop while in the SHSM-Transportation program? The SHSM-Transportation Program gives students a chance to develop: • A sound foundation for further learning the Transportation industry • Servicing or repairing transportation vehicles • Personal management skills

What can I do to prepare? • Apply in either Grade 10 or 11 to begin the program the following year • Plan your courses so that you have room to take the 6 credit program beginning in either Grade 11 or 12 Program Planning • This is a limited enrolment, if you are interested but have not completed a Request for Information Form (RIF), available in student services, you should complete the RIF as soon as possible and have it faxed to the appropriate School to Career contact or go to www.onsorts.ca and log in using your OEN number and birth date. OEN numbers can be found on report cards, student cards, credit counselling summaries.

  9. How can I get more information? Visit your School Guidance Counsellor. Your Guidance Counselor will provide information about: • SHSM Print materials • SHSM Parent-Student Information Evenings. • The application process

  10. What do I select on my option sheet? • See your School Guidance Counsellor and sign up! • Go to www.onsorts.com and follow the simple instructions.

  11. Certifications offered through SHSM: • Standard First Aid • Adult CPR • WHMIS • Personal Safety • Other industry certifications
