About The CAW • The Canadian Auto Workers (formally known as “The National Automobile, Aerospace, Transportation and General Workers Union of Canada”) is the largest private sector union in Canada. • Although its roots stem from large automotive production cities in Ontario such as Brampton, Windsor, Oakville and Oshawa, the CAW has since expanded to represent workers many different industries.

  3. Membership • The CAW, being the largest public sector union in Canada represents 200 000 members nation wide. Women represent nearly 30% of total member ship with 60000 members and men making up the other 140000 members. It also represents 27000 skilled workers and members are organized into 282 local unions and over 1,600 bargaining units. • It built its trust with members in the automotive, transportation and equipment sectors the CAW now represents members in over 20 industries
