English Room Topic of ICT (Information, Communications, and Technology) Activity- Around Town, professions Aims of activity: Students will be able to identify professions using 21st century technology reinforcing listening and spelling skills. Instruction model: Students work individually on a computer. ICT Tools involved: Internet sites 1.http://www.eslgamesworld.com/members/games/vocabulary/memoryaudio/common%20jobs/ 2. www.padlet.com 3. http://www.eslgamesplus.com/learn-to-spell-vocabulary-related-to-jobs-doctor-dentist-chef-esl-spelling-activity-online/ Outline of the lesson/activity: 1. Teach professions vocabulary- dentist, nurse, waiter, fireman, fire fighter, police officer, teacher, doctor, chef, postman, car mechanic, pilot, farmer, businessman 2. Introductory game eslgamesworld ( look above). This will help the students with their listening skills. 3. Additional game. This helps with their spelling skills in preparation for the wall wisher. 4. The students create a wall wish on padlet.com Group number: 6 Members of group: Gila, Deborah, Belinda

  2. 21st century literacy skills: The students are using a variety of skills, they are listening, reading and spelling as independent learners. • Added value of integrating ICT in the lesson: The students become motivated to want to learn, they get to play educational games and design their own wall wisher which is a creative and educational activity. • Pupil activity after the lesson: Students create their own word search on www.puzzlemaker.com using the vocabulary from the lesson. They will then bring in their work and exchange word searches with their friends.
