  2. Does this animal have ears? Yes What shape is the animal’s ears? Triangular shaped ears.

  3. How does the animal hear? Horses hear very well because their ears are shaped like cups and attract sound waves and funnel them into the inside of their ears.

  4. What is the range of hearing for this animal? Horses can hear for a very long distance because they can turn their ears 180 degrees around, which makes them hear for long distances. How does this compare to human hearing? Humans hearing is no where near as good as horses because horses can hear different frequency's.

  5. How does this animal use sound to communicate? Horses have many ways of telling you what mood they are in, such as they will flicker their ears and wrinkle their nose and whinny to tell you what they are up to!

  6. What sounds does your animal need to hear to survive or protect itself? They have to use their sight and hearing to protect themselves from wolves, coyotes, and mountain lions. Horses do better in a herd because they have their friends to watch their backs for them in case something happens.

  7. Does your animal substitute hearing for some other sense? If so, which one? Horses use their sight just as much as their hearing but they also sense vibrations through their hooves and teeth and sense many different frequency's than humans do.
