  16. EXERCISE: RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS • What does your campaign support? • Why would this person be interested in helping you achieve your goal? • What may motivate this person to join you? • What would the volunteer’s role be? • Remember! • Be Enthusiastic • Give Recognition • Be Honest

  18. ADDRESSING ISSUES • Schedule a meeting immediately • Be clear and direct • Uncover the root of the problem • Set goals and follow up • Give a written warning

  19. LETTING PEOPLE GO • Do it early • Have a third party present • Be respectful • Be clear on the decision • Interpret this for other staff • Stay calm • Express understanding • Remind them of warnings • Focus on what is best for the campaign/ organization
