  3. It was not until few years ago I learned what they do So, don´t be embarassed. I can explain...

  4. Mission of RGHF RGHF Mission: As an effort to serve others, RGHF offers history training for Rotary leaders. The fellowship accumulates and preserves the complete history, values, and philosophy of the Rotary movement, as well as encourages others to do the same at every level of the Rotary movement, and publishes those histories, values, and philosophies on the internet, as well as other forms of media as expedient.   "Your web site is an instrumental tool for those forward-thinking people who wish to learn from our history, in order to guide our future." Frank J. Devlyn, Rotary International President 2000-2001, Chairman of The Rotary Foundation 2005-2006 & a member of the RGHF Alumni Association.

  5. As a good Rotarian, you must ask yourself if Rotary’s Global History is an an important thing… For the present and for the future...

  6. What does the story of the Titanic teach us?

  7. It teaches that, generally speaking, we only see the tip of the iceberg…

  8. We don´t see the biggest part: Consequentely, if we don´t know our History… If we don´t disclose it… To know very well the History is the only sort of knowledge, that allows us to say what we were in the past, what we are in the present and what we´ll be in the future.

What RI Presidents have said … “I believe that knowledge of history is vital in developing the type of tolerance advocated by our founder, Paul Harris, and it is through such tolerance that Rotary effectively promotes international understanding, goodwill, and peace”. I am of course a very proud member of the Rotary Global History Fellowship, and when I was planning my remarks for this morning I wanted to do justice to the occasion with some appropriate historical references. So I was thinking a bit about what is probably the most famous line out there having to do with history: that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. But then it occurred to me that in Rotary, perhaps it might be the other way around—that those who forget our history will not get the chance to repeat it, or at least, to repeat its success.” Kalyan Banerjee, RI President 11/12 (At the RGHF 2011 annual meeting.
