What Is amphetamine? • Amphetamine is a stimulant drug that affects the central nervous system • Known to stimulate behavior, ease depression, induce euphoria, increase alertness, decrease appetite, cause arousal and decrease fatigue. • Not always harmful if you don’t abuse • Used more for abuse than for a helpful medical purpose

History of Amphetamine • First came out in 1887 • Major effects became clear in 1927 • 1930s it was used for appetite suppression and conditions such as asthma, narcolepsy, depression and hyperactivity • 1945 It went on the market for an appetite suppressant and officially became known as a drug • significant abuse in Sweden in the 1940s and in Japan the 1950s

Previously thought as a man made creation first human creation of Amphetamine occured on January 18, 1887 Romanian chemist by the name of Lazăr Edeleanu (1861-1941) His discovery went on generally unnoticed for the next 30 years or so Until found out to have properties that could increase blood pressure, enlarge the nasal and bronchial passageways, and stimulate the central nervous system WHERE FOUND and HOW INTRODUCED?
