  4. LOCATION • Absolute Location – exact spot where place can be found • Latitude – The Equator, breaks north and south • Longitude – PM, breaks east and west • Relative Location – about where a place is

  5. PLACE • Place – distinct features, physical geography, climate • Change is constantly occurring • Sometimes change is man made • Sometimes change comes from Mother Nature

  6. REGION • Region – physical and human characteristics are similar • Natural Regions – 10 in the world • Unique combination of plant and animal life + climate • What is a culture region? Sound familiar?

  7. MOVEMENT • Movement – people, goods, and ideas • Migrate – to move from one place to another • PULL - Standard of living, employment, education, freedom, peace, safety • PUSH – natural barriers, transportation, mother nature

  8. HEI • HEI – Humans interacted with their own environment • Examples… farming, man made dams, mushroom farms • Pollution • Housing Developments
