  1. Report of Activities under the interventions for “Children With Special Needs” and “Out of School Children” Children With Special Needs

  2. Medical Assessment Camp Medical camps were held in 9 blocks at BRC level. 710 children were benefitted by these camps. Prescriptions were taken for needy children. Some children were further taken for Medical Certificates to Govt. Hospitals. Rs. 7000/- has been sanctioned per Block for medical camp. No. of children medically assessed

ALIMCO MEDICAL ASSESSMENMT CAMPS • Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India, was invited to Goa for medical assessment camps at three locations Bicholim, Namoshim, Guirim, Bardez and Velsao, Vasco, Mormugao. • 144 CWSN were identified to receive 206 assistive aids worth Rs.6,92,962/- under ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons) Scheme at 60% subsidy (SSA cost Rs. 2,77,184). • SSA provided lodging and boarding facilities to ALIMCO Team for Assessment as well as distribution camps. • The distribution will be done in March 2013 after receiving all material. The CWSN will receive these aids and appliances free of cost.

  5. Surgery and Therapy • PraveenaFatarpekar, 11 years. was identified with severe CP at Cacra, St. Cruz. She lives in a single room house with her parents. Her father works in Municipality as a worker on the vehicle which collects daily waste from city houses. The parents are unable to afford medical treatment to her. Tiswadi BRC took initiative in her case. A wheel Chair has been provided to her on priority. Now she is being provided with Physiotherapy by Dr. Sheldon Pereira once a week at home. This therapy is required to be continued for a considerable period. Tiswadi block has been now in the process of providing Home Based Education for life skills at first by enrolling her name in a school as per RTE Act. Rs.15000/- has been sanctioned to PraveenaFatarpekar for Physiotherapy by SSA. • Master SameerShaikh, Tiswadi was operated for cleft palate in Goa Medical College successfully. Speech therapy and medication is also provided to him. Rs.17753/- has been sanctioned to Master SameerShaikh by SSA.

  6. BADHTE KADAM Festival on INCLUSION under National Trust • ‘Badhte Kadam - IV’ of National Trust was celebrated in November, 2012 in each taluka of Goa by SSA Block staff by taking out processions in crowded and rural areas with the float and various other activities such as rallies, slogans, skits, songs and sensitization activities for creating awareness among general public regarding children with special needs and the need to include them in society were performed. • Various schools with resource rooms participated with Goa SSA by conducting inclusive activities in their premises.

  7. 11th Anjali International Children’s Festival 2012 6 CWSN and 2 regular children with 4 escorts from Immaculate Conception High School, Dabhal, Kirlapal from Dharbandoda Block participated in this inclusive festival at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha for 5 days from 2nd November 2012 to 6th November 2012. They enjoyed the trip and were benefitted by this festival. The total amount sanctioned by SSA for Anjali International Children’s Festival is Rs.20341/-.

  8. HOME BASED EDUCATION Three severely disabled children are admitted in schools and are being provided Home Based Education namely 1) Ms. DielleD’costa 2) Mast. SaarthAsolkar and 3) AjeetSantoshGaonkar Ms. Dielle D Costa

  9. Resource Rooms There are 12 Resource Rooms set up at Block level. Two Resource Teachers are appointed for the Resource Rooms at Ponda and Mormugao blocks. In North Goa there are 13 Resource Rooms functioning from last year at school level. TLM grant for Rs.10000/- each sanctioned to block level Resource Room except Dharbandoda. Rs.35000/- sanctioned for setting up of new Resource Room at Dharbandoda.

  10. Block Resource Persons (CWSN) There is a sanction of 24 BRP (CWSN) for 12 blocks at 2 per block. SSA has 6 BRP (CWSN) at present. Badez, Bicholim, Sattari, Tiswadi, Mormugao and Quepem has one BRP (CWSN) each where as Pernem, Ponda, Sanguem, Dharbandoda, Canacona and Salcete have no BRP (CWSN).

  11. PARENTAL AWARENESS regarding CWSN 645 parents were addressed at block level awareness camps for inclusion of Children with Special Needs in regular school and society. Various Myths and Misconceptions regarding CWSN were discussed and removed from the minds of attending parents. They were guided on how to help CWSN and their parents in living a complete and satisfactory life.

  12. CWSN TALENT SHOW (South Goa) 125 CWSN from 14 Special and Inclusive schools in South Goa participated in the CWSN Talent Show organized by Goa SSA on 28th December, 2012 in observance of World Disability Day. The children performed various cultural programmes and displayed handicraft items prepared by them. Some schools put up the items made by these children for sale to promote financial independence.

  13. CWSN TALENT SHOW (North Goa) Total 79 students participated with their teacher and parents. The Assistive Aids were distributed at the hands of the Chief Guest and other guest present.   14. Training for Master Trainers (CWSN) With the help of DEP-SSA a training of 36 BRP/CRPs (3 per block) has been conducted in Inclusive Education. Further two more days training was taken for preparing Master Trainers for two days teacher training. These Master Trainers are conducting two days training for all teachers in blocks at primary and upper primary level.

  15. Best Inclusive School The activity of selecting was continued this year from the last two years. The selection committee scrutinized 153 applications from Inclusive Schools and visited the shortlisted 6 schools. The following schools are eligible for prizes. 1) Holy Cross High School, Bastora 2) Lourdes Convent High School, Saligao 3) Holy Cross High School, Siolim 4) A.J.De Almeida High School, Ponda

  19. Special Training to OoSC Curriculum: The Curriculum for special training of OoSC prepared by the NGO Konkan Development Society, Odxel was submitted to Academic Authority (SCERT). The approval is yet to be received. The same copy was submitted to MHRD and Ed.Cil. and it was appreciated by Ed.Cil. Based on the same curriculum a training of one day for Volunteer Educator Teachers of NGOPs was organised in November 2012 with the help of Konkan Development Society. The VE’s were benefitted by this training.
