  2. Step 1: Place original on the glass Place the original to be scanned face-down on the scanner bed. Center the original with the top edge closest to the front of the scanner bed (i.e., upside-down).

  3. Step 2: Launch HP Precision Scan LTX

  4. Step 3: Under Settings, choose Resolutionand change the resolution if desired

  5. Step 4: Click Start a new Scan Be patient – it may take a minute for the scanner to warm up.

  6. Step 5: Click and draw a box around the object. Unless your original fills up the entire glass area of the scanner, draw a box around your picture so only the picture will be saved.

  7. Step 6: In the Where do you want the scan to go field, choose File

  8. Step 7: Click Output Type to ensure the scanner is choosing the correct type of scan.

  9. Step 8: Click Output Size to ensure the size of the image meets your needs. Change Units to Pixels.

  10. Step 9: Click Save the scan now

  11. Step 10: Save the image • In the Save in: field, change to the floppy drive (or wherever on your hard drive you are storing your images) • Change the Save as type to BMP, JPEG or GIF (BMP is the native Windows file format - can’t be used on a web pageso you’ll have to eventually convert it to either JPEG or GIF;JPEG is best for photographs; GIF is best for line art and cartoons) • Enter a file name, and press Save.

  12. Step 10a: If you have chosen JPEG, enter the compression level Step 11: Wait for the scanner to finish When the progress meter has completed, your image should now be on your floppy disk.
