  1. How to Use ESS – step by step • Open Internet Explorer and go to www.sru.edu/payroll • Click on State System of Higher Eduction (Employee Self-Service (ESS) Portal)

In the Username area enter your full email address: jane.doe@sru.edu • Your password is your six digit birthday followed by Sru: 070468Sru Be sure the ‘S’ is capitalized. • Click “Enter Portal” Note: Passwords are only good for 90 days and must be changed BEFORE they expire. Use the “Account Self-Service Portal” to change your password. If you need your password reset please send an email to esshelp@sru.edu. Give them your username, date of birth and reason you need your password reset.

  3. 7. Click in the yellow area below your name “Employee Self-Service”.

  4. From this screen you choose to view your pay statement, your leave, your personal information, etc. The following instructions show how to view your pay statements. 8. Click the “Payroll” Link.

  5. 11. Click once “Online Pay Statement”. 12. Chose which pay statement you wish to view. Current pay is usually available Monday or Tuesday before the day it is scheduled to pay. You can view a previous pay by chosing “Select by Pay Date” or “Search by Period”. Once you have chosen what pay you wish to view click “Display Results”.

  6. The following describes how to check leave balances. 13. Click the “Leave & Time” link. 14. Next chose which you would like to view. Click Display Leave Balances to view what leave is available, click Display Absences to view leave used.

  8. Under Display absences, chose the time period you would like to view. • Then click display results.
