  2. Amalfi es una comuna y arquidiócesis de la región de Campania, Italia, situada a la orilla del Golfo de Salerno, a unos 40 Km. de Nápoles. Se encuentra en la boca de una profunda garganta al pie del Monte Cerreto ( 1.315 m de altura). Deslumbra por sus grutas misteriosas, escarpados acantilados y luminosas bahías. Se tiene registro de Amalfi desde el siglo VI y en la actualidad cuenta con 5.421 habitantes.
