  1. February 24, 2010Organization Day 2 • Does the first sentence of the second paragraph work with the overall organization of the essay? Why or why not? • Rewrite the first sentence of the second paragraph so that it enhances the essay’s organization. • Have at least two people read your new sentence and write an evaluation of it in your notebook. Then they should sign their names below their evaluations. • Simplest way to fix it: Melville’s Moby Dick has a multitude of virtues, but in this essay, I will examine a few.

Today we will: • Demonstrate the ability to choose the correct verb to make subjects and verbs agree. • Read silently. • Share two possible research topics with questions. • Use reading skills to analyze a second poem. • Divide into three groups. Read assigned section on pp. 650 -651. • Apply strategy to “Moons” p. 651, • Be prepared to share tomorrow!

Benefits? • Why is it important to develop strong, positive relationships? • How does television affect our thinking? Development of children? • Positive and negative effects? • Does watching too much television affect one’s health? • Are reality shows doing more harm than good? How do they affect our society? • What makes German Shepherds good police dogs? • Are German Shepherds the best police dogs? • Are dogs the best pets?

  4. Homework • P. 459, Ex. 8 in Language Book due Monday. • Finished vocabulary flyer due on Tues. 3/2. • Two possible research topics due on Monday.
