  2. 1.Cardiovascular Fitness Cardiovascular fitness (also known as cardio respiratory fitness) is the ability of the heart, lungs and vascular system to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the working muscles during sustained physical activity. Aerobic Exercise improves cardiovascular fitness.

  3. 2.Muscular Strength Muscular strength is the amount of force a muscle or muscle group can exert against a heavy resistance. Anaerobic Exercise improves muscular strength.

  4. 3.Muscular Endurance Muscular endurance is the ability of a muscle or muscle group to repeat a movement many times or to hold a particular position for an extended period of time. Both aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise can improve muscular endurance.

  5. 4.Flexibility Flexibility is the degree to which an individual muscle will lengthen. Stretching improves flexibility.

  6. 5.Body Composition Body composition is the amount of fat in the body compared to the amount of lean mass (muscle, bones etc.).

  7. 6 Skill Components Agility is the ability to change directions of the body quickly and accurately is agility. Balance- is the body’s ability to maintain equilibrium while stationary or while moving.

  8. 6 Skill Components Power-the ability to transfer energy into force. Reaction Time is the time elapsed between stimulation and the beginning of reaction to that stimulation is reaction time.

  9. 6 Skill Components Coordination-is the body’s ability to sense with the body parts and eyes to coordinate and perform motor tasks smoothly and accurately. Speed-the ability to perform a movement in a short period of time.

  10. Creating Goals What do you want? Reality vs. Media Do you have the means to achieve this goal? Help? Starting Point vs. Goal

  11. Pacer Starting Point- assessing what the body can do. Push ups, 20 meter dash, and curl ups with a partner. Worker and recorder. Now vs. the end of our fitness unit
