General Information • Capital: Canberra • Major religion: 64 % Christians, 26 %Roman Catholic , and 19.3% other denominations including the Uniting Church. • Major economic resources: Coal companies • Physical geography: Great Barrier Reef; extends more than 1,250 miles near Australia's northeast coast. • Major Holiday: January 26th: Australia Day • Population: 21,766,711 • Nationalities: 92% Caucasian, 7% Asian, less than 1% Australian Aborigines, also Cambodian, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Indian, Italian, Polish, Serbian, South African, and Vietnamese. • Entertainment: They do; Rock art, paintings, dances, and musical stories called song lines that focus on legends. Fun fact • Summeris December through February, and winter is June through August.
