  6. Male Parts of a Flower • Stamen: male reproductive part • Filament: thin part of stamen • Anther: on top of filament, produce pollen (sperm) which is the male sex cell.

  7. Female Parts of a Flower • Pistil: female reproductive • Stigma: tip of pistil where pollen grains collect, sticky or feathery. • Style: long slender part • Ovary: rounded base of a pistil that contains ovule. • Ovule: has egg.

  8. Other Parts of Flower • Petal: colorful, attracts insects for pollination. • Sepal: modified leaves, protects the bud. • Leaf: make food for the plant. • Stem: connects plants roots to its leaves.

Flower Dissection • You and your group will be given a Daffodil to dissect. • Take apart the pieces and place them on a piece of paper. • Label each piece with the correct flower part name and function. (About 9 flower parts) • Study the names. • Make sure to include all your names on the paper. • Raise your hand so Ms. Nguyen can come by and test you. • Once you are done, work on the next worksheet.
