Book Report Great Gatsby The name of the book that this report describes is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This story takes place in New York City in the summer of 1922. This time period is often referred to as "The Roaring Twenties," which was the good time in the United States before the crash of the stock market in 1929. The story begins with the move of Nick Carraway from the Midwest to West Egg in the district of Long Island, New York during the summer of 1922. Nick's point of view is used for the duration of the story, as he is the main character. West Egg is described as a very wealthy area full of people who made lots of money very quickly and love to show it off. These people also haven't been rich long enough to make any social connections, unlike Nick, who has connections in East Egg, where the more settled rich live. Nick is also not as upscale as his neighbors in West Egg. The...show more content... Then, Gatsby tells Nick that it was Daisy who was driving his car and hit Myrtle, but Gatsby intends to take the blame. George Wilson, Myrtle's husband, somehow jumps to the conclusion that whoever killed his wife was her lover. After discovering the owner of the car involved in the deadly accident, he sets out to get his revenge. Nick stops by Gatsby's mansion after work the afternoon after the accident to find that George Wilson had shot Gatsby and, afterwards, shot himself. Soon after this event, Nick composes a funeral for Gatsby, parts ways with Jordan Baker, and moves back to the Midwest because of how revolted he is with New York and the wealthy. I would recommend this book because of how exceptional the story is. However, I am not enthused how F. Scott Fitzgerald chose to write it because of the lengthy sentences and words that were beyond my vocabulary(I had to look up the definition of many words in this book). Overall, I can see why this book is such a ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...
My Educational Plan I divided my educational plan into two parts. The first part of my plan is to stay in college and continue to pursue a higher level of education. As being an immigrant and the first person who ever attend college in my family, I feel the need of act as a role model for my younger siblings and cousins. I believe good grade can be earned through hard work, but making college affordable is intimidating. I will continuously reach out for supports and hunt for opportunities that can help me achieve my dream. The second part of my plan is to guide my brother, Joey, who is an incoming high school senior and planning on pursuing higher education at Indian River State College as well. Everything was hard for me at the beginning with no adults in my family who has attended college or who barely speaks English, nor did I have an...show more content... First, seeking for opportunities that relate to counseling. Through my experiences and observations with the people around me, I noticed most of them are not working happily and do not know their capacity. I learned that they have negative thoughts towards their job and is not willing to try the best within their ability, which it can turn the business down. I want to inspire and mentor them to discover their potentials, find their interests and what they can do to change their life. Second, donate to a scholarship fund. I was fortune enough to born in an era where people attach importance to the education by supporting the students financially. I would never forget the supports I receive today and would love to give back in the future. I want to show my supportiveness through allowing more people to receive education and make my contribution. Both my educational and career plans are focusing on reinforcing the community and the importance of education. Finish college and pursuing higher education comes in as my first priority as this will have a domino effect on the other plans I wish to ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

The following poem by Robert Test entitled, "To Remember Me," shows the importance of organ donation. Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk...Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that, someday, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window b. Not only is this a problem nationally but also it is a big problem right here at home in Colorado. 1) Nationally, there are over 120,000 people waiting as of November 1, 2011. Engl. 102 Poetry Essay "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" a Review English 102 Liberty University 4/21/2014 Poetry Thesis and Outline While reviewing "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", it should be noted that the key is the rhythm of the language. The first, second, and fourth sentence rime while the third sentence of each rimes with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sentence of the next stanza. In relation with the cryptic language draws the question, there is a more sinister back drop of loneliness and depression in this poem much deeper than the level of nature orated by the Narator. I. First Stanza A. Frost opens with describing who's woods we are viewing 1. Does it matter who's woods B. No one is...show more content... Frost further points out that the stretch of woods being viewed is very rural. This is made possible by the reference to the location between the woods and frozen lake. In closing the final sentence of the second stanza Frost reiterates the fact that this occurs on "the darkest evening of the year" stating the darkness of the mood. In the following stanza Frost returns to the horse, which "gives his harness bells a shake". This is the first of only two sounds listed in the entire poem. Sounds might normally be associated with a person in a lighter more jovial mood. Frost uses the lack of sound to put the narrator into what appears to be a deep process of thought. As the poem moves further allon it is clear that Frost is not thinking of other sounds or even the feelings which would be associated with this type of event. There is no mention of the temperature only the implication of the snow falling, and the frozen lake. Yet the sounds are slightly present, similar to an athlete who is preparing for the event. Frost is quiet, internalizing his thoughts, focusing on the task at hand, and not sensing the other areas of life in the world around him. In the fourth and final stanza Frost uses the riming of all four sentences to draw the reader into the
climax of the poem, "the woods are lovely dark and deep/ But I have promises to keep/ and miles to go before I sleep/ and miles to go before I sleep". This grouping leads the reader to feel that ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...
Five -Year Plan Essay Five–Year Career Development Plan MGT/431 March 24, 2011 When developing a good five year career plan I had to ask myself where, I wanted to be in five years. This question would be critical for my future. When I was in school in thought, I knew my career path. I was convince I was going to become a nurse. As years past, I found myself moving away from nursing and interested in teaching. However, my transition would not be as smooth as once believed. According to Career vision, (2004), "for some people, the five year career plan may be a plan to prepare them for another job, for others it may be a plan to develop skills used in their current job. The five year plan is very much an individual plan, and is to be used solely...show more content... I am repeatedly informing my older child of how important it is to go to college and obtain his degree. When I complete my studies I will be able to show him the journey was not easy but obtainable. Another goal for my five–year plan is to be debt free. While in college I have many student loans that I need to pay off. I want to completely pay off my student loan debt in five years or less. I believe this task can be accomplished if I stay to my budget plan. The benefits of paying the loans off early would help me with interest rates, and it will also help me increase my credit score, which will help me when it is time to open my husband and me restaurant. Promotional Opportunities Upon completion of my bachelor's degree program, I will try to seek employment with my hospital human resources department as a generalist. I currently work with staffing and with a bachelor's degree in management; I believe I would be ready to move up to a higher level. The transition from staffing to human resources I believe would be smooth, because I am familiar with the hiring process and I am also knowledgeable with dealing with outside staffing agencies. Career Management According to Career vision (2004), "Career management is the lifelong process of investing resources to achieve your career goals. Career management is not a singular event but a ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

In both stories, the innocent characters were fighting death at the hands of someone who found the idea of killing another human being to be a game. In "The Lottery" the game of death consumed an innocent life solely because a few individuals founded a tradition; and in "The Most Dangerous Game" the game of death consumed an innocent life solely because one person thought it was merely entertaining. Both authors portrayed the antagonist as friendly, warm and welcoming. In the Lottery, the antagonists were the families whom participated in the drawing of a name that lead to the stoning of another family member (which may or may not be their own family member). In "The Most Dangerous Game" the antagonist was a well–off general who opened his luxurious home to guests who have gone astray from their original destination. Death is the main theme of both short stories and both authors portrayed this dark and dreary idea as a game the characters are playing. In "The Lottery", Jackson portrayed death as a fun family oriented game. Jackson included children, family, friends and most importantly the tradition of playing "the lottery" to portray to the audience the commonality of the "game". This game, known as "The Lottery" was an event that each family member of a small village participated in every year during the summer time. The families gathered together in the square around mid–morning getting prepared for the game by the gathering of stones, ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...
Airborne Express Exhibit: Five Forces Outline 1. Barriers to Entry–Medium to High for the following reasons: a) Economies of scale–the top three carriers (Federal Express, UPS, and Airborne Express) serve slightly more than 85% of the domestic express mail market. All three carriers deliver a high volume of packages, and thus, are able to spread fixed costs over more units. Also, each carrier has integrated technological systems that improved operational efficiency. In addition, intensive training programs of employees increase service and delivery efficiency. b) Extremely large capital requirements are necessary to enter the market. Hub facilities at airports (e.g. FedEx's hub near Dallas cost $250 million); capital expenditures for...show more content... However, such avenues of delivery limit the customer's presentation options (cannot bind business reports / "deliverables"). Also, the customer cannot transport a non–paper package (e.g. a book, a desk) via this delivery system. b) Regular mail only cost 32 cents for letters. The post office is also very convenient. However, in regards to packages, the post office is very poor in quality service and efficiency (cannot track packages efficiently and has an on–time delivery record much worse than commercial carriers) 3. Bargaining Power of Suppliers–Medium for the following reasons: a) Postal materials–numerous suppliers of necessary postal and packaging materials. Switching costs are not high. The postal materials suppliers have low bargaining power. b) Software programs combined with extensive customized programming updates / additions. The software and software customization industries both have numerous suppliers. However, given the complexity and uniqueness of such an information network, there are probably only a limited number of software and customization companies that can provide a carrier with a high quality system that is capable of smoothly integrating all the operation and customer service divisions. Furthermore, the switching costs have the potential to be extremely high because such a transfer could disrupt communication between the divisions, leading to poor quality service. In addition, the company would ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...
