Curricular Pathways Pathway A and B (10 or 9 GCSEs) Double Award Science Pathway C (8 GCSEs) Single Award Science Pathway D (8 GCSEs) OCN NI Level 2 Extended Certificate in Applied Science, Level 2 Occupational Studies and Level 2 Prince’s Trust Pathways C and D will be given 1/3 additional time in English, Mathematics and Science

  5. Pathway A and B 10 or 9 subjects • English Language • Mathematics • Religious Studies • Double Award Science • 4 Subject Choices Non-Examination subjects: General PE and LLW

  6. 10 GCSEs English Literature Digital Technology or

  7. Criteria for 10 GCSEs • Academic performance in Year 10 • Advice and guidance of the subject teacher • DENI guidelines on the restriction of class sizes in certain subjects. There will be a maximum of 24 students in the English Literature and Digital Technology classes.

  8. Science 8 subjects Single Award Science 8 subjects OCN NI Level 2 Extended Certificate in Applied Science 10 or 9 subjects Double Award Science Double Award Science is needed to study Biology, Chemistry or Physics at A level Level 2 Science is not suitable for Nursing

  9. Pathway C 8 subjects – Extra time allocation • English Language • Mathematics • Religious Studies/OCN NI Level 2 Certificate in Religious Studies + • Single Award Science • 4 Subject Choices Non-Examination subjects: General PE and LLW Third more time allocated to English, Maths and Science.

  10. Pathway D 8 subjects – Extra time allocation • English Language • Mathematics • Religious Studies/OCN NI Level 2 Certificate in Religious Studies + • OCN NI Level 2 Extended Certificate in Applied Science • Level 2 Occupational Studies: Technology & Innovation (Bench Joinery and CAD) or Business & Services (Contemporary Cuisine and Patisserie and Baking) • Level 2 Princes Trust Achieve Programme • Two subject choices Non-Examination subjects: General PE and LLW. Third more time allocated to English, Maths and Science.

Level 2 Courses Available • OCN NI Level 2 Extended Certificate in Applied Science = up to 2B grades at GCSE • OCN NI Level 2 Certificate in Religious Studies = 1B grade at GCSE • OCN NI Level 2 Certificate in Information Technology Applications • = 1 B grade at GCSE • Level 2 Princes Trust Achieve Programme = up to 2 B grades at GCSE • Level 2 Occupational Studies – Construction or Cookery = 1 GCSE • Final Award: Distinction* = A* Distinction = A Merit = B Pass = C
