  2. These are non-repayable awards given to recognize the high level of excellence a student has achieved in his/her studies. • Scholarships can be based on: • Outstanding Marks • Community Involvement • Athletic Ability • Specific Criteria • Eg. parents who work for a company Scholarships

  3. Entrance scholarships-one-time $ amount awarded to a student prior to first year entry -offered as a reward for academic excellence and to entice the student to accept the University’s offer of admission -range from hundreds to several thousand dollars • Renewable scholarships-monetary awards spread out over a student’s undergraduate career (e.g., $10, 000 renewable scholarships provide students with $2,500 a year for four years) -conditional on specific criteria, such as the maintenance of a certain average. Students entering their first year at a particular College or University are eligible. • Usually, for Universities an automatic selection is made based on outstanding academic achievement, so students do not have to submit a separate application. • Occasionally, factors other than academics are considered (e.g., athletics or extra curricular activities, Financial Need). In such cases, a supplementary form will be required. Scholarships: Who Gets Them?

The U of T National Scholarship will cover: • Tuition and incidental fees for four years of undergraduate study • Provide residence support in first year • Include a renewable monetary award • The selection of National Scholars is based on exceptional academic and extra-curricular achievement. The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership will cover: • Up to $10,000 per year for tuition at any approved Canadian University • $7500/year towards living expenses • Offer of paid summer employment at TD • Mentorship opportunities • Invitations to annual gatherings, networking opportunities, and events TD Scholarships for Community Leadership

  11. This scholarship/award covers: • An annual tuition waiver and a stipend of $9,000 at any of the partner Universities • Access to funding and internships through the summer • Invitations to annual gathering and forums • Mentorship opportunities Loran Award

  12. Minimum average of 85% • Canadian citizenship or permanent residence status • Well-rounded students who are active in both their communities and school and exhibit character, service, and leadership Loran Award Criteria

These are awards for students whose financial circumstances (need) could be a barrier to continuing studies at a post secondary level • Usually you must also be applying for OSAP • The student would have to provide information verifying financial need • Academic excellence is expected Bursaries
