  5. Introduction to Wikis • Wiki: Web page designed for easy editing • Everyone can contribute . . . • But access can be adjusted • Wiki Definition

  8. Wiki Functions • Distribute Information • Gives facts and opinions • Resource 2.Collaboration—turn readers into writers • Linear rather than hierarchical model • Turn readers into participants • Give participants a “stake” in the information 3. Easy!

Class Wikis • Distribute class information (syllabus, assignments, questions, etc.) • Similar to WebCT or MySCSU • Asynchronous discussion • Similar to Blogs • Collaborative student group projects • Easy platform for group work • ENG 497: Technology and Industrialism in 19th-C.   11. Conclusion • Wikis are a great resource for communication and interaction • Use Wikis to distribute information • Use Wikis for collaboration • At SCSU, students AND faculty can benefit
