  1. The Crime Today I’m your sergeant and you are a special task force. There has been a bank robbery at a Chase Bank in Los Angeles. You will work in teams to solve the crime. Each team will receive a crime report.

  2. IN TEAMS: • Take turns reading the report with your team aloud. Person 1 should read at least 3 sentences and then person 2, then person 3, and then person 4, until the entire report is read. Talk over the situation, so that everyone understands.

  3. The Suspects: • You will review the rap sheets. Take turns reading the rap sheets aloud in the same way you read the crime report.

  4. Narrow Your Choice: • Who do you think robbed the bank? • What evidence supports your reason? Discuss with your group these questions and try to come to a consensus.

  5. Character Witness: Character Witnesses vouch for the suspects. They give us personal testimony about the suspect’s everyday personality. Take turns reading the character report, then decide: 1. Who do you think robbed the bank? 2. What pieces of evidence support your reason?

  6. On your paper… Write a paragraph arguing who your group chose as the culprit and support it with evidence from the crime report. Each team member must write their own paragraph, but you must come to a consensus as a team about “who dunnit”. Choose the best paragraph to argue with the class. We will vote on a winner.

  7. The Deadline: • Your team is operating on a deadline. You will have 30 minutes to review the entire case, decide on a suspect, and write your solution paragraph.

  8. On your paper… Write a paragraph arguing who your group chose as the culprit and support it with evidence from the crime report. Each team member must write their own paragraph, but you must come to a consensus as a team about “who dunnit”. Choose the best paragraph to argue with the class. We will vote on a winner.
