  2. Current status • HMC is the only residency training site in Qatar • HMC 2010: 3 pillars (Health services, Education , and Research) • HMC 2011: Academic Health System Initiative

  3. Near future Other opportunities will be available: • Sidra (SMRC) • Private sector

  4. Residency Programs At HMC • 20 residency programs: • First residency program 1982 • 500+ enrolled residents • 140 residents recruited annually • 35 fellowship programs • Arab board accredited

ACGME Alignment 2006 HMC and Weill Cornell Medical College / NY Presbyterian Hospital established an affiliation that included the following objectives: • Develop high quality internship, residency and fellowship training programs • Support and assist its trainees to strive for high quality education and training • Implement an environment conducive to learning • Upgrade the HMC GME Accredited training programs to meet The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards and Requirements
