  2. RtI Primary Goal for Monitoring To meet the challenge of getting the right supports, to the right students, at the right time, at the scale and intensity requiredfor student success.

Required Actions Early identification of struggling learners: • Lack of success mastering academic goals • Using informal and formal assessments • Behavior interferes with learning • Organization, lack of motivation, avoidance • Attendance in class • Misses several days at a time, regularly missed days

Tier I – Classroom Interventions • Differentiated Instruction • Graphic Organizers • Small Group Work / Collaborative Grouping • Questioning Strategies (HOTS) • Before / After School Tutorials • Additional / Modified Practice • 1:1 Feedback and Redirect • Discipline/Consequences • Redirecting/Rewards • Parent Contact / Parent Conference 100%

Tier I – Classroom Intervention • Parent Contact / Parent Conference • Parent, student, and teacher agreement • Interventions implemented to improve performance • Begin documentation process . . . • Implement interventions for at least15 days and follow-up • Gather data: SRI/SMI, TAKS, EOC, class work, quizzes, summatives, etc 20%

Tier II Referral • Initiated by a staff member. • Complete top section and bottom sections • Comments: Specific concerns about student • Cannot multiply two digit numbers. • Cannot follow directions exceeding three steps. • Cannot sequence events after reading a three paragraph passage. • Submit to Campus RtI Coordinator ~R. Brown

  11. Tier II – Committee Meeting • Intervention Plan • Identify Goals • Plan Intervention (duration, frequency, responsibility) • Progress Monitoring • Schedule Follow-up • Create RtI entry in Student Success Plan • Print SSP, sign and place in folder

  12. Tier II – Progress Monitoring • Intervention Teacher • Implement intervention with fidelity • Record student progress according to Tier II Plan in SSP • May record additional Notes • RtI Coordinator • Monitors fidelity of SSP progress reporting

Tier II – Follow up Meeting(s) • Review Student Progress • Make Recommendation • (MS) Meet Standard: remove student from intervention • (MP) Making Progress: continue intervention and monitoring • (I) Insufficient Progress: adjust plan and/or move to Tier III • Update SSP, print, sign and place in folder

  14. Tier II to Tier III Indicators • Student moves in from another district or area with interventions / services provided in the past • Student has had significant medical trauma or mental health concerns or issues • Below 10th percentile on standardized tests or benchmarks • Student requires excessive individualized instruction, re-teaching, and 1-on-1 assistance • Student does not meet grade level standards on benchmarks in two or more related academic areas • Student appears unable to participate in any academic activities

  15. Tier III – Committee Meeting • Intervention Plan • Identify Goals • Plan Intervention (duration, frequency, responsibility) • Progress Monitoring • Schedule Follow-up • Update or add interventions in Student Success Plan • Print, sign, and place in folder

  16. Tier III – Interventions • Increase Intensity and/or Frequency • Small Group Instruction (e.g. 1:1, 1:3, 1:5) • Content Area Pullout • Targeted Tutorials <5%

Tier III – Follow up Meeting(s) • Review Student Progress • Make Recommendation • (MS) Meet Standard: remove student from intervention, return to Tier II or Tier I • (MP) Making Progress: continue intervention and monitoring • (I) Insufficient Progress: begin Special Education referral • Update SSP, print, sign and place in folder
