  3. Living with Plastics Every year, more than 200 Million tonnes of plastics are produced all over the world. 200 Million tonnes = 200,000,000,000 kilograms!

  4. Living with Plastics Every week, 10 Billion plastic bags are used around the world 10 Billion = 10,000,000,000 plastic bags!

  5. What We Throw Away 6 Million tonnes = 6,000,000,000 kilograms Sadly, every year 6 Million tonnes of rubbish and thrash that we throw away end up in our Oceans.90% of the rubbish are PLASTICS!

  7. What We Throw Away Plastics take MORE THAN 450 YEARS to decompose (i.e. to break down) Plastic bottles =450 Years!

  8. What We Throw Away Today it is estimated that 100 Million tonnes of plastics are FLOATING in our Oceans. 100,000,000,000 kilograms of plastic floating in the sea today!

  9. What We Throw Away These floating plastics then come together in areas called the “Plastic Soup”

  10. What We Throw Away In the ocean, plastic materials break into smaller pieces that float in the sea water like “soup".

  11. What We Throw Away These tiny plastics are then eaten by fish like this Rainbow runner and other marine animals

  12. What We Throw Away Some poor animals also get tangled up with these plastic materials as they swim in the sea.

  16. What Can We Do? Try not to use plastic bag so much!

  17. What Can We Do? Avoid using plastic food containers and utensils (fork, spoon, straw etc.)

  18. What Can We Do? Use water bottles that we can re-fill and re-use!

  19. What Can We Do? Pick up thrash and rubbish from our beaches!

  20. What Can We Do? Take part in beach clean-up activities!

  21. What Can We Do? Organize a beach clean-up event with your friends and family!

  22. What Can We Do? If you’re a scuba diver, why not take part in an underwater clean-up?

  23. What Can We Do? Tell your family and friends about this issue of plastic pollution!

  30. Shark Conservation Every year, more than 38 Million sharks are killed to get their fins Malaysia is the 10th LARGEST exporter of shark fins in the world!

  31. Shark Conservation Today 70 – 80% shark species are already extinct (meaning they have all been killed or have died!)
