About us In my work it is important to me to have purpose and meaning. I previously worked in end of life care and the opportunity to work in this field is the logical progression. Ensuring people have what they need planning their own or a loved one’s funeral – whatever that may be – is very important. Funerals are vital rites of passage and I feel privileged to support people facing this life process. Think it was a meant to be thing. Really questioning as to what it means to die: then realising that I loved people and have researched widely on death. So it was a natural progression to work in this field.
About us • The Natural Funeral Company has been assisting families in the wider Auckland area for 19 years now. • We began after hearing people say they would like a cardboard coffin and would like not to be embalmed. Not much has changed over the years apart from a wider choice of eco coffins, and although we do embalm at times, we have lots of experience with our unique care of a person’s body. • Our premises has a calm ambience (it’s been an old church) created to feel like home with lots of candles, flowers and plants incrematorium Auckland. • And we understand the importance of guiding with sensitivity and support through the many choices and decisions that need to be made.
Services • A FULL FUNERAL SERVICE: A full funeral service is open to anyone to attend who knew the person and can be held in any venue that can be hired. It’s good to have an idea of how many people may attend, hard to guess I know. It’s usual for family and friends to speak and to have a celebrant, clergy or open mic and offer refreshments to your guests. The service can be live streamed to those who are unable to attend. You may like to give guests a card with a photo and order of service, and have a slideshow of a broad range of photos. This service can precede cremation or burial. • MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service usually happens sometime after cremation and often has the ashes present. You can engage our help or organize a gathering yourselves. This usually includes people speaking and refreshments, although it can be any way you wish. • A PRIVATE GOODBYE: A private or family farewell is saying goodbye without the whole world knowing. So no service notifications or newspaper notices and respectfully letting others know it’s just family time. This could be a simple visit before cremation or burial. Or a gathering of close family and friends saying a few words, maybe writing a message on the coffin or having morning or afternoon tea together. Or a celebratory glass of wine. Then following to cremation or not as you wish.
