  2. What are they? • Electronic books stored and accessed by a computer • Interactive books including a variety of media such as text, images, audio, and animations.

  3. In the Primary Classroom • A great creative tool in which students can learn ICT skills • An effective teaching and learning tool for a variety of content in syllabus key learning areas.

  4. Multimodal Literacy • eBooks present the opportunity to integrate the concept of multimodal texts in literacy • Many links with K-6 English outcomes and content

  5. Syllabus Links • Students at all stages meet English and Science outcomes when creating eBooks • English: can create a variety of text types, not just narrative texts • Including a variety of literary and factual text types e.g. Recounts, Procedures, Reviews, and Explanations!

Catering for Stages and Abilities • eBook tasks can be scaffolded for learners from different stages, e.g: • eBook template where students complete structured sections • eBook template providing the beginning and students completing the ending. • Multimodal approach an effective tool for students with particular literacy and learning needs such as ESL students
