  1. Summary of the CHOD working group Mauro Piccinion behalf of the “Old CHOD” team (GiuseppinaAnzivino, Marco Bizzari, Antonio Cassese, Patrizia Cenci, ViacheslavDuk, Monica Pepe, Roberto Piandani, M.P., AntofrancoPiluso, Mauro Raggi, Cristiano Santoni) Siena, 31stof August 2012 NA62 Collaboration meeting Siena, NA62 Collaboration meeting – Plenary meeting

  2. Summary of talks The first NA62 dedicated CHOD section, mainly on the old CHOD: (summary on dry run activities) • Status of the hardware by ViacheslavDuk • Test of electronics boards (LAV FEE and TDCB) by Roberto Piandani • Status of the CHOD decoding by Antonio Cassese • Progress on the firmware to generate L0 trigger primitives from CHOD by Cristiano Santoni • But also a talk on the new CHOD by Vladimir Obraztsov • Note from Italo concerning the geometry of LAV12 and of the new CHOD Siena, NA62 Collaboration meeting – Plenary meeting

  3. Old CHOD status • After dry run: • All channel powered, tested and connected to the readout • All the electronics in place, cabling completed • The complete chain has still to be tested, firmware has to be completed and improved, as well as the software running on the online PCs Siena, NA62 Collaboration meeting – Plenary meeting

  4. Plan V.Duk, INFN Perugia • New HV cabling • Signal cables: from the patch panel to the TEL62 board • CHOD signals from cosmics 4. Conclusions By ViacheslavDuk 4

  5. New HV cabling V.Duk, INFN Perugia Cables go outside the rack CHOD H-plane CHOD V-plane Problems with fixing the modules: to be solved after the Technical Run SAC (8 cables) 5

  6. Patch panel V.Duk, INFN Perugia From the rack side (LEMO) From the detector side (BNC) 6

  7. LAV FEE V.Duk, INFN Perugia LAV FEE from the back: Signal 16-channel cables LAV FEE front: DCS ethernet cables in the end of the Dry Run: • no input cable • 4 ethernet cables • the last board terminated 7

  8. From LAV FEE to TEL62 V.Duk, INFN Perugia 32-channel cables and supports TDCB input sockets 8

  9. Signals from cosmics V.Duk, INFN Perugia • Signals from all channels observed at HV=1800V • Signal equalization will be done in October (starting from HV known from the previous runs) 100mV per division 9

  10. TDCB mapping V.Duk, INFN Perugia TDC 3 1 4 1 0 3 2 2 beam CHOD TDC0 H4 V4 V1 H1 TDC1 H3 V3 V2 H2 10

  11. L0 by CHOD • Technical run will give a good opportunity to test the firmware developed by Cristiano S. for the generation of the L0 trigger primitives inside the TEL62. • By the way it is also mandatory to have a low level trigger by CHOD already working at the early stage of the technical run. • We can exploit the analog sums available in LAV FEE board to setup a • basic trigger distributed to the talk board via a lemo cable. • A NIM create and few modules (discriminators, coincidences) will make the job. • Main issue: Timing of the signals before to search for coincidences • between horizontal and vertical plane Siena, NA62 Collaboration meeting – Plenary meeting
