Key Features of the NERC Standards Process

This white paper highlights essential features of the NERC Standards Process approved by FERC on September 3, 2010. It compares the old and new processes, emphasizing the enhanced ability for consensus-building through parallel comment and ballot periods. The new approach allows drafting teams to modify standards during development, facilitating immediate re-balloting for additional comments. The paper outlines the structure of multiple comment periods and the transition to a final ballot period, aiming for improved stakeholder engagement and effective standards development.
