  4. Physical symptoms like headaches, fleeting joint pains, but nothing physically wrong. • Victims truly believe they are sick and symptoms appear. Hypochondrias

  5. Change or conversion of a psychological factor like anxiety into an actual loss of physical function • Ex. Blindness, mute, laryngitis, or paralysis Conversion Disorder

  6. Stress leads to actual physical problems like • Asthma, ulcers, headaches, and high blood pressure Psychosomatic Disorders

  7. Individuals in some way break away from their sense of self- from memories, thoughts, or feelings Dissociative Disorders

  8. Memory loss is a reaction to a specific stressful event. • Ex. Combat soldiers • Survivors of natural disasters • Abuse Dissociative Amnesia

  9. The loss of one’s identity is accompanied by travel. • People may assume a completely different identity. • Ex. Pg554 and Oprah’s case Dissociative Fugue

  10.
