  2. CCR • Bill sponsored by Senator Edward Maloney and Representative David Miller in 2007; Re-authorized in 2010 • $750,000 Appropriation to the Illinois Community College Board • Part of a Larger College & Career Readiness Effort going on at the state and national levels

  3. The Pilots Round 1: • Southwestern Illinois College • South Suburban College • Moraine Valley Community College • John A. Logan College • Shawnee Community College Round 2: • Kankakee Community College • College of Lake County

  4. CCR Pilot Program: Objectives Diagnose college Readiness Reduce the need for remediation Align high school and college curriculum Enrich the senior year Establish an evaluation process

  5. Sample Outcomes FY 2010 • Seven Sites contacted 12,575 students and enrolled 884 students in interventions. • To improve curriculum alignment, the five sites had 251 separate meetings with high schools and interacted with hundreds of college and high school staff. • CCR sites partnered with 75 high schools. • Approximately 384 CCR students transitioned to credit bearing courses or higher levels of developmental coursework.

  6. John A. Logan College • In-district high school graduates • Approximately 75% need developmental math • Over 27% need some form(s) of developmental English

  7. Not ready for college…… • John A. Logan College students could spend as much as $1,932 in additional tuition costs (starting summer 2011)

  9. High School and Community College Partnerships • Gains with curriculum alignment of HS exit & CC entry requirements • Gaps identified in HS to CC curriculums = Change in textbooks/materials/projects/assessment tools
