  1. Aviation A Web Quest for 7th Grade (Technology Education) By Edward Becker

  2. Introduction • Aviation has given a new means to transportation, it allows us to travel thousands of miles daily. But how is this possible? What keeps planes in the air? • This Web Quest will introduce us into our unit of Flight. The purpose of this Web Quest is get you familiar with the history of aviation and the basic factors that affect an aircraft.

  3. Tasks By following the steps and answering questions within this Web Quest, the class will… • Identify, locate and explain the forces that affect flight • Be familiar with the history of aviation by creating a brief timeline identifying major breakthroughs in flight (check out rubric on Evaluation slide!).

  4. Procedure • To accomplish the previous tasks, follow the procedure below. There are some resources on the “Links” slide that will help you locate the answers. • You and your partner will use the web to locate the factors of flight. • After they are identified, explain what they are and answer the letter to each factor on the picture of the aircraft on the following slide.

  6. Procedure(continued) On a separate piece of paper write down the major breakthroughs in the last 110 years of aviation with a brief description of: • Who? • What? • When? • Where? Check out the links slide for help!

  7. Evaluation • Your Evaluation will be determined by: • your ability to locate and explain the four factors of flight. (20 pts.) • Your Aviation Timeline will be graded by a rubric. (80 pts.)

  10. Conclusion • By working individually or with a partner, the class will follow the steps and procedures to answer the questions provided in the power point. This is a self directed, self learning experience; therefore all answers are located within the provided educational resources. • Upon completion, the class will be able to identify, locate and explain the forces the plane must overcome to overcome gravity and achieve flight.
