Since the moment I was born, he has been waiting for me to get old enough to take fishing. Finally, he decided I was old enough. I wasn’t too sure I’d like it, but I went anyway. First, Grandpa rowed the boat to a special fishing hole in his pond. Grandpa put squiggly, stinky worms on my hook. When I felt the fish nibbling on the worm, I’d jerk the pole to hook it. Then you pull the pole up in the air to pull the fish out of the water. The little fish would come flying out and hit me in the face! When we ran out of worms, grandpa switched to crickets. We caught tons of fish. At the end of the trip we packed our stuff up and then had to clean the fish. This part is really gross. I love my grandpa, but hate to go fishing with him. He can’t wait to take me again. Naturally, I’ll pretend to like it just to hang out with him.

This is a story about how we had four of them at the same time! Ginger is our pet golden retriever. We didn’t know she was going to have puppies, so we went on a camping trip vacation. Our neighbor was feeding her while we were gone. When we came home, Ginger was nowhere to be found. We searched everywhere and found her under the house with four new puppies. They were black with white feet. We took the puppies to the veterinarian to make sure they were okay. She gave them some shots. Before we could give them away , the puppies had to be weaned from ginger and start eating puppy food on their own. We kept them for six so they would be old enough to leave their mother. We put an ad in the newspaper that said “Free Puppies.” The puppies were so cute it was easy to find homes for them. Our neighbor got one puppy. Another pup went to a lady with some little kids, and my uncle got one. We decided to keep a puppy, but choosing which one was a hard choice. We named him “Socks” because he looks like he is wearing socks. The puppies were a great surprise and a lot of fun. State conclusion

Moving always seems bad at first, but good later on.

  8. Moving Again! Have you ever felt like a moving truck? I have, and this story is about why. My dad is in Navy, so we move a lot. He gets transferred all the time. We move about once every year or two. I have lived in a lot of places, including San Diego, Memphis, and even Hong Kong. Our last move was from Arlington, Virginia to Pensacola, Florida. When Dad told me we were moving again, I wasn’t too happy about it. I hate moving. I had to leave all my Arlington friends and pack up all my stuff by myself. Mom and Dad seemed to be really stressed out, so that made it even worse for me. Once you get to the new place, you have to get used to it. My new school is Perdido Intermediate. “Perdido” is a Spanish word that means “lost” and that’s how I felt all the time when I first got there. As usual, I had to learn my way around town and make new friends. I’ve decided that this move wasn’t such a bad idea after all. One of the first things we did when we got there was go to the beaches and go swimming in the waves. Next, Dad took me to the fishing pier. It’s an old bridge that goes halfway across Pensacola Bay. A few weeks later Mom took one of my new friends and me to the Naval Air museum. Believe it or not, there’s a Tom Cat jet inside the museum that is just like the kind my dad flies. I’ve decided that I like living in Pensacola. We’ll probably have to move again sometime. Moving always seems bad at first, but good later on.
