  2. WHAT HAPPENED? • Charles signed the peace of Augsburg • The Peace of Augsburg was an agreement between states in the Holy Empire that gave each German Prince the right to decide whether his state would be Catholic or Protestant • This was their compromise from after many years of war

  3. WHO WAS INVOLVED? • Ottoman Turks • The French • Rebellious German Princes • Charles V

How does this event show religious disunity in Europe? • Charles V wanted to fight for the ability to control the people’s religion in Europe to Roman Catholic • Resulted to conflict with enemies (Ottoman Turks, the French, and rebellious German princes) • Catholics and Protestants had several wars debating on which religion everyone should be
