Adding and Subtracting • In order to add and subtract radicals, the radicand must be the same. • Just add or subtract the coefficients, leave the radicand alone. Ex)
Simplifying Radicals • Some radicals can be simplified so that the radicand is a smaller number. • To do that, use a factor tree. Ex)
