  2. AYP – Federal Standards • Evaluation of a school and a district for NCLB • Attendance (90%) • Percent Tested (95%) • Test Objectives (varies by subject and grade level)

  3. Disaggregated Evaluation • Subgroups included in the evaluation (≥ 40 students) • Ethnicity • White • African American • Asian • Hispanic • Native American • English Language Learner (ELL) • Special Education • Low Socioeconomic Status

  4. Are students counted in more than one category? • Yes, a student can be counted in multiple categories. e.g. A white student who is in special education and low socioeconomic status is counted 3 times provided each category had 40 or more students.

  5. Implications for NOT making AYP • AYP is a part of the AZ Learns Label • 1 point out of 27 possible • Title Schools (a school that receives any title money at all) are placed into School Improvement • Each year of school improvement brings sanctions from writing a School Improvement Plan, providing transportation to students to attend another school, firing the principal and staff, and bringing in an outside agency to run the school
