  5. Meaning of the Burn tool • While there are many ways to adjust the entire picture as a whole, many times you will need to adjust only a portion of the photograph, one part of the photo may be to dark or bright. That’s when the burning and dodge tool are useful • Burn= darkens • Dodge=lightens
