This case study evaluates an impact assessment tool applied to a proposal aimed at reducing waiting times for hip replacement surgeries in NHS Lothian. The proposal involves contacting patients over 65 to offer treatment at neighboring hospitals for quicker access. It considers the implications for disadvantaged groups, including potential travel costs and visitor reimbursements. Action steps to mitigate negative impacts on vulnerable populations are also discussed. For further insights, contact James Glover, Head of Equality & Diversity at NHS Lothian.
