LSD Prototype(Layered Surface Detector) • LSD prototype status and lessons: • The ribswereplacedunder the top layer • -> no more punching of the layers • -> gain of space • Volume and weight -> Dia max 320 mm, ~ 30 kg • Holeopeningon top of the tank -> Dia 360 mm, hand milling machine • Simple hinge system -> Lower the overallcost • -> addsome rivets, ribswithflate end, anti-rotation cotter pin • Opening tests -> Shrouds system Ok, max strength = 190 daN! • To bedefined: • Size and watertightnessof the hole on the tank liner • Strengthneeded to open the LSD in water • Mechanismused to open the LSD into the tank • -> combinationbtwpulling on the hinges and pushing on the central tube
