Brief Explanation of Appendix and it's role in the body The appendix is a small, finger-shaped pouch located at the junction of the small intestine and the large intestine in the lower right abdomen. It is a vestigial organ, which means it has lost its original function over time through evolution. The exact role of the appendix in the body is still not entirely understood, but it is believed to have some immune system functions.
