  4. Course Content a- Verbs to BE ( is , am , are, was and were) b.- Pronouns ( I , you, he , we , them……etc ) c- Verb Tenses ( past, present, future…. etc d. Negative Forms e. Types of Questions( Yes/No & Wh- Questions ) f. Prepositions ( time & place ) g. Countable & Uncountable Nouns h. Spelling & pronunciation of final –es and final –ed i. Irregular verbs j. Expressions of frequency k. Using Articles ( a, an , the and no articles) l. Comparative & Superlative forms m. Using many, much, few , little , a few , a little, one, none , all and some n. Reading texts with different topics and some relevant vocabulary Note: In case a student can’t find the main textbook, the registered lectures are enough

Course Description… 1.This course is a beginning level of ESL/EFL developmental skills text in which grammar serves to expand learners’ abilities in speaking , writing, listening and reading . 2. It uses a grammar- based approach integrated with communicative methodologies. Starting from a foundation of understanding form and meaning, students engage in meaningful communication about real actions, real things and their own real lives .

  6. Course Description • 3. This course is very helpful for the learners , especially, distance learning students to revise the basic grammar of English that is greatly required in their different specializations and at the same time meet, at minimum , their needs in their academic studies.

  7. Course Objectives By the end of the course, students should be able to: 1. Revising some important English language skills that students have already learned before. 2. Providing students with basic English structures that help them understand sentence formation. 3. Helping students to communicate with others using simplified English grammar. 4. Improving students’ English language skills in reading and writing 5. Training students to scan and skim reading texts for specific & general information.

Grading and Performance Total mark is out of 100 1. 30% of the total mark is for:- - 10% is for your participation on Blackboard Forum. - 10% is for your main three assignments. - 10% is for your attendance (live and recorded lectures). 2. 70% of the total mark is for the FINAL TEST The final test is (70 multiple choice questions with five different forms ) The exact date and time of the final test will be announced later

  9. Note: Three Main Assignments • You have to HAND IN these Assignments ON TIME. NO excuse will be accepted for ANY kind of delay.

  10. Attendance • You have to attend all live and recorded classes. • You also have to attend and participate on Blackboard Forums. • Note: If you drop down any of these attendances, your grade will be deducted automatically by the end of the semester. So, ATTEND.
