  1. 5 Simple Ways To Understand The Difference Between Goals & Vision! By GautamSharma (MD Big Bang Sports & Entertainment, Chairman Professional Boxing Organisation India & Former Vice President & National Sales Head ABP News Network (formerly Star News)

  2. Goals & Vision After starting my work, I often used to hear words like ‘vision’ and ‘goals.’ Professionals working with me used to imply the words interchangeably. You can simply go along with it until you’re mature enough to contemplate the comparison between the two words and both the terms go hand-in-hand. The long-term destination of a business venture is what ‘vision’ is, and when you embark upon that path, your goals appear automatically. After hearing those words for years, I am trying to share a small portion of my vision about chasing goals but not losing sight while doing that. 3. You do not have to chose between goals and vision A goal will aid you in setting up short milestones to cross and finally achieve the ultimate accomplishment of reaching the vision. It is like someone narrating to me about the dreams of achieving that perfect figure at the gym. People don’t break down the things into small achievements to reach that particular vision. Such an individual needs to set up goals on a weekly or a monthly basis to for achieving them successfully before being ready to flash those chiseled abs. 4. Goals are short term, vision is limitless You have to motivate your team to work as hard as possible to attain the short-term goals. One can keep dreaming about a thought-provoking idea while sitting at a fancy office cabin. One can think that such an idea will bring about massive changes in the world. However, it is the day to day performance optimization and rationality that is profitable and turns the wheels of the business. It will naturally take you longer to conceptualize the vision, but you can acquire those goals with more and more motivation to reach the final destination. 5. Learn to walk the tightrope If you’re too much obsessive with the vision, then your eyes might wander away from the short-term goals. Similarly, too much attention to the goals will lead you nowhere in the long run. Maybe you’re after the gratification, which comes after displaying an excellent vision, from the professionals within a boardroom. Though it can be no better than a daydream and fanciful visions can be way too intoxicating. It will create illusions and make you lose your ability. You need to be able to walk the tightrope and divide your focus equally on goals and vision. You can compare it to keeping an intense devotion toward the vision while eyeing to achieve the goals. 6. Allocate time in your daily functions My practical way of hacking is to separate the time between creating and reaching that vision while keeping up with the short and mid-term aims. Achieving the goal requires hardcore action, but an idea can be intoxicating enough to create illusions. You should take time off the everyday grinding and chase the goals to outline the vision. 7. Multiple goals one vision Goal is something that can be in infinite numbers, but a concept is only one. So, you need to continually revise, check, and modify the goals as you move along. Once you achieve one goal, you move on to the next one and tick away the first one from the checklist. The vision gradually manifests when you regularly set and achieve goals, which further motivates you to continue working. There is no symmetrical equality in the X and Y axis, and so, moving ahead dynamically to let you strive for the vision. 8. Gautam Sharma Goals produce results, goals are practical and rational; visions take slower to mature. One needn’t choose between the two, just wear both the shoes and walk on. After all you need a destination to keep looking forward to but the journey takes you there.
