Sea Turtle Grants ProgramFunding Summary • $3,389,700 awarded to over 76 organizations, agencies & institutions representing 238 projects since 2001. • For the 2013-2014 funding cycle, over $991,000 in funding has been requested in 44 proposals (largest amount ever requested). • We anticipate being able to award $310,000 this grant cycle.   4. Sea Turtle Tag has been doing better than a lot of other tags following the fee increase (2009), sales have dipped some in recent years. (79,091 in 2008; 65,777 in 2012). A fee increase helped keep revenue steady. STC trying new marketing activities to increase sales, but the biggest factor is support from Florida’s active sea turtle community. Keep promoting the Sea Turtle Plate! Technological issues still driving design changes for standard Florida license plates. Push to make all tags more readable to law enforcement and toll cameras. Issue held up by bickering among agencies and counties. Not an immediate threat that the Turtle Plate will need to be redesigned, but it will come up in the future – and we need to make sure any required changes don’t compromise its attractiveness.
